Welcome to the
Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition
January 11 - 14, 2018
As one of the country's premier high school Model United Nations conferences, CMUNCE brings together delegates from around the world to participate in a uniquely challenging, stimulating, and enriching debate experience.
Letter from the Secretary-General and Director-General:
Dear esteemed delegates and advisors,
It is with great honor and excitement that I invite you to the seventeenth session of the Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition. This year’s conference will take place from January 11 to 14, 2018 on Columbia University's Morningside Heights Campus in New York City. CMUNCE is defined by its small, engaging crisis committees spanning a wide range of time periods, regions, and even universes (with our exciting fantasy committees). Across all committees, we are committed to providing an immersive experience for both delegates and staff. From crafting detailed background guides to delivering challenging crisis updates, our dedicated Secretariat and committee staff work diligently to ensure that every delegate in attendance has a valuable and rewarding experience.
The CMUNCE experience extends beyond the committee room, as delegates have the unique opportunity to engage with real world diplomacy through diplomatic visits and invited committee speakers. Diplomatic visits supplement delegates’ learning experience by enabling them to have intimate discussions with diplomats who work on many of the very issues discussed in committee session. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Marriott Marquis Times Square, home of the exciting midnight crisis debate session on Friday evening. I hope that all these different opportunities will make your CMUNCE weekend your most dynamic Model United Nations experience yet, and allow you to experience all that Columbia and New York City has to offer.
Entering my third and final year serving on Secretariat, I look back on the past three conferences with immense fondness and gratitude to the Columbia students, high school delegates, and advisors who make the conference possible. I am incredibly honored to serve as Secretary-General and will work tirelessly with the Secretariat to make this iteration of CMUNCE the best one yet.
I look forward to welcoming you to CMUNCE XVII on January 11-14, 2018 for a weekend of memorable debate and crisis simulation. Conference registration will open in early September, and in the meantime, please look through this website to learn more about the conference. Thank you for your interest in CMUNCE and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org.
