In September of 1774 delegates from across the British North American colonies met in the swelteringly hot Carpenters’ Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to coordinate their response to the Intolerable Acts, the latest in a series of objectionable laws passed by the Parliament in London. The Congress found no shortage of complaints, but was divided on what action to take. Should they attempt negotiation with Parliament or the King? Should they organize an economic boycott? Or should they perhaps take the most radical path of all: independence?
You have been selected to represent your colony in that tiny brick building in Philadelphia. It is up to you and the other delegates to chart a path for the North American colonies. Your path could lead to war or peace, prosperity or poverty, independence or reconciliation. The fate of America is in your hands.
