An underground Palestinian council is about to convene in Gaza. Since the split between Fatah and Hamas, no talks have taken place between the two groups. However, after six years of rough siege and fighting in Gaza, Hamas is getting weaker and weaker. For this reason, Hamas leaders decide to start negotiating with Fatah for a possible compromise in order to join forces again. The reunification of the Palestinian government would be positive not only for Hamas, Fatah, and all the other political parties in the PLO and the PLC, but for the entire civilian population as well. The debate will feature both the internal struggle for power between the main Palestinian political parties and the debate regarding the need for a common foreign policy.
