SPECIALIZED GENERAL ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE

As we get closer to 2030, it is a country’s responsibility to work towards and report their progress for the Sustainable Development goals. In the incoming years, there is also uncertainty in trade relations after the United States has placed tariffs on every country in the world.

In this committee, we will touch on these two main topics: First, we will reflect and create resolutions that focus on a few of the 2030 UN Sustainable Development goals, such as improving education and health, while also creating sustainable cities and lowering inequality.

Next, we will also examine the implications of tariffs, and how that might affect social and economic development. Specifically, we will focus on and navigate through the most recent tariffs placed on the whole world by the United States. What steps can countries take to deal with these tariffs? Will deal-making or reciprocal tariffs work better in the long run?
