Minecraft Village Council
CRISIS COMMITTEE
Snuggled between a forest and a river lies a sleepy village whose quaint town square is characterized by a little gurgling fountain and a little golden bell. The sky is clear, the birds are chirping, and like every other day, there is the clinking of tools and the “hrnnnh” of villagers at work. At the appointed time, when the sun is just “yey-high” in the sky, the bell is rung. Leisurely, one by one, the villagers wander into meeting.
This committee transports delegates to everyone’s favorite childhood block game as the residents of a Minecraft village. Delegates will become seemingly mindless villagers as they navigate everyday rural life. Villagers will attempt to manage resource scarcity, survive raids from pillagers and zombies, fight illnesses, and defend against infestations and weather events. With no currency or official government, villagers will have to develop systems of self governance to address the inevitable tensions between collaboration and competition, individual interests and the common good. Perhaps the life of a villager is not as simple as it seems.
