The Congress of Vienna, 1814

Picture1.png

It’s the year 1814, and Europe has been ravaged by the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. Following years of unrest, each with shifting unsteady alliances, Napoleon was defeated and exiled. To redraw and divide borders as well as decide the future of their continent, the powers of Europe will congregate in Vienna, Austria. As would be expected, this committee invites an alternative history take on the Congress of Vienna. The historical Congress of Vienna was a series of informal balls and parties attended by hundreds of royals, aristocrats and even some private interest groups. Most of the decisions which would have critical effects on Europe’s future were made privately. This is a modern realization of the Congress, with the most prominent participants of the Congress present, wherein standard Model UN procedure is applied. The fate of Europe rests on committee's collective shoulders.
